Your December 2022 Update from Kody Boye
Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing well whenever you get the chance to read this!
It feels like this year has flown by (especially the latter half of it, which, for me, was burdened by some unexpected happenings that affected every aspect of my life.) I’m happy to say that things are winding down and I’m doing pretty okay, though, so I can’t complain!
I’m writing this update to let y’all know about some important stuff that has happened throughout the past few weeks.
THE FIRST BIT OF NEWS is that, after almost a year of waiting, the second book in The Southern Dead series is available for preorder!
A Deathly Spring takes place immediately after the first book, A Deadly Winter, and follows Crystal Wright and a band of survivors as they struggle to deliver humanity’s potential salvation to San Antonio, Texas. You can find out more about the book (and grab the first if you haven’t read it yet!) by clicking or tapping the button below.
FANS OF MY SHORT STORIES will also be happy to know that they are now able to be read online through my Substack page. I wanted to deliver them in a medium that would allow readers the chance to view them in a web-based format, which is why I spent some time at the end of November arranging them here on my Substack. You can find the list of the currently available stories by clicking or tapping below.
I would also like to note that I uploaded a short, general adult story titled If We Could Build a City to my Substack, which I wrote for my college’s short fiction contest. Though it didn’t place in the contest, I still really like the story, and I think you all might, too. It’s short (about 1,500 words, which translates to about five pages,) and tells the story of what a man finds after he decides to go through his dead father’s office.
AND FINALLY I would like to note that I have completed The Haunting of Alice Rommel. Though I am queuing up a ton of episodes for December, it might not officially be released in full until January, so please be aware of that if you decide to read it on Patreon or on Kindle Vella.
With that said: with the completion of The Haunting of Alice Rommel comes my final announcement, which was one I came to rather unexpectedly. It is that:
My next writing-related project will be my highly requested Haunted World series. I’ve already started writing it, and am almost 10,000 words in already! I’ll be sure to let you know how this ghost apocalypse plays out when I’m able to (but if you want a glimpse of it, consider reading Marina’s Lament here on Substack.)
Thank you for taking the time to read this! I’ll have another piece of young adult fiction appearing in my Other Worlds collection both on KO-FI and here on Substack later on in the month. I’ll let you all know when it’s available to read!
